Colmberg Castle is the starting point for splendid hikes (St. James’ Way, Radschmetterling cycle trail) The medieval towns of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dinkelsbühl and Feuchtwangen are popular excursion destinations.
Colmberg Castle’s history dates back to the 13th century. In 1318, it was sold to the Burgrave Friederich IV of Nuremberg. For almost 500 years, the fortress with its surrounding land was an important possession of the Hohenzollern.
Colmberg Castle has been in the possession of the Unbehauen Family for 3 generations now. Hans Unbehauen’s vision of making Colmberg Castle open to everyone and turning it into an excursion destination has come true.
